Community Baptist Church (CBC) was founded in 1979 by a group of believers in Thunder Bay who felt led by a collective desire to reach people in the neighbouring community of Murillo. Since inception, our story has been one woven with God’s gracious and unwavering provision. From prayerful hearts that helped plant the seed of this church, to building materials donated by local congregants, and generous donations from churches in town, His provision has been on display, especially through community. Currently, we are a loving family of approximately 60 people and a growing number of children and young families. We deeply enjoy being together as a church family on Sundays, holding fast to the Word of God and worshipping in fellowship. We also trust that God has a purpose for our children and youth – to grow in relationship with him and be disciples. And yet, regardless of age, we acknowledge that it is only through His finished work that “God moves us from death to life, from contentment in a lifeless death to discontentment in watching others in that dead life. Moving us to go into all the world and make disciples.” Therefore, we encourage our church family – young and old – to be involved and use their God-given gifts to serve and be apart of His greater story. In the same vein, we support God moving in ministries around the world. From Northern communities in Ontario to communities in the Southwest Pacific, we long to see God moving from death to life. Community Baptist Church is led faithfully through a collaboration between the Pastor and the Deacons Board with assistance from the Ministry Board for church operations.
